Hyperion Connection possible???

has anyone connected a hyperion (essbase) system successfully to VC 7.0??

Which connector did you take?

Since Essbase is Hyperion's multi dimensional BI solution it won't do to use a simple JDBC connection. We also are using Hyperion and I have done some research into browsing the cubes in Essbase using Visual Composer. The only solution I can imagine to be right is the XMLA connector.

I have had no luck trying to find documentation on accessing Essbase using XMLA, neither at SAP nor Hyperion. I will keep trying though. If you get anywhere please update me.

Hi Henning,

as I know Hyperion based on a IBM DB2 OLAP Server, so it should be possible to connect via JDBC, maybe the SQL statements are tricky. Maybe you can use MDX Statements, but I'm not sure. Have you checked the oracle websites for any further information? Or did you contact the oracle support for connectivity of the hyperion system?

Hi Frank,

this should be possible. Hyperion has also a database like every BI system, so you can connect to it by using a JDBC connection.
