High volume printing with SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe

Hi

When SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe was first introduced it didn't even have a name and it was introduced as a replacement of Smartforms + interactive functionality.

There was also promised tools to convert Smartforms to Adobe forms.

Today the tool has a name (SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe) and it is not easy to find info about NOT interactive scenarios.

Is use of this tool for print of order confirmations, delivery notes, picking lists, invoices etc. a best practice scenario?

Today we use SAPscript and customize these prints in "Output Determination Using the Condition Technique".

How is customizing done in an adobe scenario?

How is customizing done in a Smartforms scenario?

best regards

Thomas

Hello!

My company is only at the beginning of the SAP project.

We are pretty far from starting system customizing and developing forms.

But we are going to use Adobe forms for all areas (standard if available, self developed in other cases).

Hi,

Adobe forms can be largely used in non-interactive scenarios. SAP do provide some standard templates for payslips, invoices etc..

I would recommend adobe form as it is asy to develop and this technology is next step for smart forms, just like sap scripts were moved to smart forms.

Thanks and Regards,

Hello!

Customizing for both Smartforms and Adobe Forms output in Logistics is done using the same "Condition Technique" method.

Of course this works only, if you have R/3 or ERP version, that supports Smart forms (4.6C and above) or Adobe Forms (ERP 2005 and above).

If you have the latest open SPRO and you find everything needed.

E.g. in SD output customizing go to "Maintain Output Types".

Select any type (e.g. BA00 - Order confirmation) and choose "Processing routines"

You'll see smth like:

-

Output Type BA00 Order Confirmation

Application V1 Sales

Transm. Medium

Layout module

Program RVADOR01

Form Routine ENTRY

Form RVORDER01

PDF/Smartform Form Form Type

-

So, if you decide to go for Adobe or Smart Forms you have to do the following:

1) Make changes to the print program (better say - develop new print program from scratch, because SmartForms and Adobe Forms use new logic in comparison to SAPscript) and set it in "Program" field here.

2) Change field "Form Routine" according to your new program (if needed)

3) Develop your new form (let it be Adobe Form)

4) Clear field "Form" (that is for SAPScript only)

5) Set the name of your Adobe Form in "PDF/Smartform Form" field.

6) Set the type of the form in the "Form Type" accordingly.

And that should work.

Hi Petr

Thanks for your reply.

Do you use the PDF option for order confirmations, delivery notes, picking lists, invoices etc.?
