Can someone tell me if it's ok to refresh a BI system (ABAP only) with the SAVLIB / RSTLIB method, or is it better to follow the system copy method on the CDs? We often and successfully use the SAVLIB / RSTLIB method for refreshing our 4.6C system, but we've not done a refresh in our BI system before.
Thank you.
~TJ
Hi TJ,
with ABAP only, the easy method is fully sufficient, otherwise you need the SAPinst version.
I can tell you, the SAPinst version is very stable in the meantime as well - I was totally surprised )

Hi TJ,
Yes the method works even with NW04s and I have done it numerous times, but with BW make sure that you transport all your source system related objects from the Test system(system to be refreshed) before you overwrite the target system with RSTLIB.
After the refresh, import the transport and you are done..
Else you will have to restore each and every SS individually and is very time consuming and is risky as well..if you do not know what you are doing..
Thanks
Abhi
