Material qty in fractional units

Former Member

Hi Friends,

I checked available qty of a particular material i.e. DVD in plant via MMBE, unrestricted stock available of the material qty was 1230.92 units EA. I checked MD01 too, found in fractional units only.

As I Checked material master for Base uintof Measure was in EA.

What does it mean if material qty is available in fractional unit?

What could be the reason for fractional units?

Could u plz help me out ASAP.

Regards,

Vamsi. P.

hello, friend.

an MM friend of mine suggests that you take a look at the settings for Movement type/Plant/Material no.

then find the "Display UoM" under "Quantity Proposal". the entry here should not allow decimals. if the settings are right, only full quantities are generated.

also, you have the alternative of having ABAP work on this.

again, i hope this helped.

regards.

hello again, friend.

then again, if there are no alternative units of measure, then the material can be maintained at fractions of a unit.

examples could be 10.35 kilograms of a substance or chemical.

hope this helped.

you r right, if the material is in liquid form.

But my material is related to media, so its maintained in each dvd or cd like that. In this case what could be the reason material showed in fractional units.

Any other checks to be done to find out the reason.

oh, right. DVD. missed that one in your first message.

so the basic unit is EA, and the smallest unit is also EA? hhhmmm... interesting.

but i had a similar occurrence like that. in product allocation, the order quantity was only 3 units, but the system returned an allocation of 3.029 units.

what say we wait for someone who knows better?

hello, friend.

fractions could mean that there can be alternative units of measure.

for example for material ABC, 1 box equals 20 bottles. let us say initially you had 10 boxes of ABC. then you opened 1 box and sold only 10 bottles. so now you have 9.9 boxes left.

hope this helped.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your quick repsponse.

I checked MMR, alternative unit of measure was not maintained.

They have only EA is base unit of measure.
