Since u r not interested in coding shift u'r career to XI . In EP u should know J2EE & WEBDYNPRO concepts & u need to code in these languages.

cheers!

Hi,

EP and XI are the component of SAP netweaver.

Now the difference between both of them is

In EP: you need to have a good theoritical and practical experience as well as knowledge of JAVA and adavance java.

In XI: It is separated in two parts

1) XI basis (Administration)

Activites are:

1) XI installation

2) Configuration activitie

3) Post installation checks

4) SLD configuration

5) Create Users,

6) Role assignments.

And many more

2) XI Implementation and development.

Under the development you have two parts Integration repository which is desing part which involves small amount of Java knowledge whenever your requirement is not fulfilled by standard SAP XI function.

and integration Configuration:

This is very simple stpes once your design is over.Based on your requirement you have to use the standard adapter provided by SAP for example if file is coming then u will go for File adapter,if IDOC is psoted to R3 then you go for IDOC adapter, communication with remote client u go for SOAP adapter.

I dont know how much knowledge u have in Java but if u dont want to go towards programing side then I think u should go towards middleware tool like XI.

Thnx

Hi Chirag,

Nice answer.I have rewarded with points . Now i have some idea on XI.. Im working as a netweaver administrator purely in java stack. So learning xi wud be easy with the kindof experience i have got?. Or i will have to spend lots of time to learn xi.

Hi,

Normally in organisation people dont give chance to learn the XI admini acitivities you need to learn along with the Experience person who has the knowledge of XI BASIS.

As this acitivites as very sensitive and will lead to problem in organisation. You will be working on Both the java stack as well as ABAP stack as for user creatinf n all u have to login into SAP ABAP stack.

All the admini activities like XI installation,Post configuration, post installation checks,SLD creation are one time acitivites which is done at the start of any project, the best way to lear is to sit with BASIS person during all the acitivities.

You can mean while start with the basic of XI.

1) What is Product,Software component version,SLD,IR,ID,Adapter engine,Cache and many more.

As that should be your first step to get into XI.

Go to SAP Help and search on SAP XI which will give you the theoritical knowledge of all the terms.

Thnx

Hi,

There is no trial version available in XI. You need to learn these activities on ur organization SAP XI sandbox.

You need to have the proper rights or super user rights for the same.

For the satrt up I told u to first start with the Basic. Refer the below help.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/84/e8763c997fda50e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm

Once u got the knowledge or proper understanding then u go with reading the PDF.
