hi
please explain me the diff between mdm and gds
thanks
Hi Akhil,
I have written what i understand about GDS........check whether it is helpful for you ......
GDS majorly deals with manufacturers and retailers.
It seeks to align the product and party information across
all the trading partners i.e manufacturers and retailers providing single version of truth.
It enables each participant in the supply chain to have accurate and up-to-date information about the products
flowing through its supply chain.
Thanks...

Here's a quick overview of the MDM scenarios including GDS from the new MDM Getting Started Guide. See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/46/ba168b8b0a1514e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm.

Hi Akhil,
Following is the idea about the GDS and MDM.
The GDS Console is a mandatory component of the MDM GDS business scenario, enabling users to:
-Retrieve information from back-end SAP ERP or MDM systems, for processing on the GDS console
-Create, enhance, maintain and store specific data on the GDS Console.
-Register and publish data to the data pools and the Global Registry
-Manage publication of item data between suppliers and their trade partners
Master-data management is a key enabler of consistent master data within a heterogeneous system landscape.
-It provides a single version of the truth for customer, product, ,employee, supplier, and user-defined data objects, ensuring cross-system data consistency through streamlined data import, consolidation, and distribution mechanisms.
Hope dis helps you.
if found helpful,reward points.

In GDS manufactures and suppliers follow common set of globalstandards supplied byGDSN. this way they can optimize their business processes through complete communication through data pools that are in turn linked to a sinngle global repository.
Data is maintained in the global repository and supplier/sellers access it by Source data pools providing their catalog etal and the Buyer/Retailer access this repository thru Receipient Data pools. GDS ensures bidirectional data flow with data pools and the global ITEM repository.
