Dear Supportt,

I need an answer urgently.

We will change the HW to other.

We have:

Source:Windows 2000 (32 bits)

Target: Windows Server 2003 32 bits.

The database is MSSQL Server 8.00 2040 and it will be the same.

The architecture we will maintain.

Question:

Does anybody knows if have any problem with this OS modification?

Does anybody have more tips about this change?

Thanks in advance,

MLRF.

Hi,

you ar going to upgrade windows 2000 to windows 2003 or you change the hardware? means used new server for windows 2003 with hardware change

if you only want to upgrade the os than you can upgrade it, before doing that take full database backup

or if you want to use new windows 2003 server than perform homogeneous system copy for sap on win/sql server after that you need to install new licence for SAP due to hardware change

exactly, in addition to Kaushal I would strongly recommend to use 64-bit platform (actually any modern hardware supports this) - see also SAP note 996600, it will help you to avoid significant sizing problems in future

Dear Kaushal,

I am going to change our HW - 32 bits to 64 bits and our OS, from Windows 2000 Server (32 bits) to Windows 2003 Server (32bits).

I must run the homogeneous system copy after or before install the new licence??

Thanks for your response.

Regards,

Maria Lúcia.
