SMD-Monitoring on SAP Solution Manager Server host

Do I need also to install a SMD agent 7.00 on SAP Solution Manager server,

if I would like to set up SMD monitoring for SAP Solution Manager server itself?

NO, you dont need to deploy SMD agent. SMD Server Package on Solution Manager, SMD Agent on monitored system.

Do you really want to monitor the Solution Manager system(JAVA)? If so yes, install SMD on Solution Manager, if you dont, then just deploy LMSERVICE on Solution Manager(use Solution Manager as the SMD server).

Hope that makes sense or answers what you want. I dont know if you want to monitor Solution Manager, more like want SM to do the monitoring of your satellite systems.

Yes, it is not really necessary to monitor SM itself.

LMService should be already deploy if you install a new Solman system. just take the latest one from SMP in case of, and respect SAP Note 1010428 recommendations if you want to enable E2E RCA.
