I did try 'Retry' button but ended up with same error again .....

do you know the reason behind these errors ? becoz current installation runtime is at around 12 hrs before I see any error....

The "can´t load fastlob" is just an information due to the R3load parameter "-loadprocedure fast". LOBs can´t be imported with that procedure.

I don´t see a real error in the SAPSSEXC.log - can you check where the actual error is?

Hi Markus,

I have been looking at various log files...not sure which log file would be appropriate to view to troubleshoot this situation...

KINDLY LET ME KNOW WHICH FILE YOU WOULD REQUIRE TO VIEW TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS PLEASE

I found followign error snippet :

<h2>SAPINST_DEV.LOG</h2>

Try the following:

- open a cmd.exe

- step to your installation directory

- find "err" *.TSK

- then open the corresponding logfile and search for the error

I checked all *.TSK files for "err" and found nothing.... all TSK files as got "OK" at the end....

Ok - then the loading was finished.

Are you trying to install a cluster instance?

This is really strange.

I have one suggestion:

Update your R3load.exe and libdbmss.dll to the latest patchlevels and press again on "retry". And again the question: are you trying to install a cluster node?

Markus,

i'm really new to basis world....

I installed with SAP DVDs got from them during DEC 2007.... if you want me to look for latest r3load.exe and libdbmss.dll, could you kindly guide me to do the same pls ?

coming your 'cluster node' question --> really dont have idea on it... i've selected ERP 2005 SYSTEM -> MS SQL->CENTRAL SYSTEM in initial screen of SAPInst ..... i assume this is central system installation....

prior to this installation i installled MS SQL 2005 on the same box by using SQL4SAP.VBS script file provided by SAP DVD....

thanks ina dvance

Are you doing remote installation or local machine installation.

Is your source (F:) on local machine or network drive?

Please put your source on local machine.

F: drive is on the machine.... initially i tried with shared drive which didnt work and so we used virtual technology using VMWare where in which F: acts like a inbuilt drive ....

Markus,

intrestingly i found all entires with "xeq" in file SAPSSEXC.TSK.bck....

would that be a problem ?

Ah!

The .existence of a .bck file means, that a previous load was interrupted. You will need to "merge" the content of the SAPSSEXC.TSK and SAPSSEXC.TSK.bck files together

Markus

when you said "merge", can i just merge contents of ".bck" file to orginal ".TSK" file ? after merging should i restart the installation with 'Continue old installation ' ?

Former Member

or do we have any tool to merge files ?

thanks in advance

Hi,

yes merge the content of .bck to .tsk

Note 455195 - R3load: Use of TSK files

Restart the installation with "Continue old installation".

kaushal

You have to merge manually.

try the following:

- copy SAPSSEXC.TSK to SAPSSEXC.TSK.orig

- open SAPSSESXC.TSK.bck and mark all tables with "ok"

- copy SAPSSEXC.TSK.bck to SAPSSEXC.TSK

- paste all tables you marked previously (by overwriting the corresponding entries already existing)

Then press retry

Hi,

copy the command line from the first lines of the log file and add

-merge_bck

Then the r3load will merge the bck + tsk file and will continue with the load.

Markus,

sorry to be pain....need clarifications against your points...

1>copy SAPSSEXC.TSK to SAPSSEXC.TSK.orig => this is fine, i'll copy file to another file

2> open SAPSSESXC.TSK.bck and mark all tables with "ok" => I assume i should just make a note of all tables with "ok" ?

3> copy SAPSSEXC.TSK.bck to SAPSSEXC.TSK => i'm overwriting .TSK file with .BCK file with all "ok"...am i right ?

4> paste all tables you marked previously (by overwriting the corresponding entries already existing) ==> all noted tables in step 2 should be pasted back to SAPSSEXC.TSK after step 3?

but in .BCK file there are no entries with "ok"...all are with "xeq" ... is this another problem?

If they are all with "xeq" then you can just copy the complete file over - so copy SAPSSEXC.TSK.bck to SAPSSEXC.TSK and retry.

after copying .bck contents to .tsk file, should i delete the ".bck" file ?

I´d rename it - in case something wents wrong one can have a look.

Markus,

I copied BCK file to TSK file and renamed BCK file and retried installation by clicking 'Retry' but it failed ...

The system tries to create tables, that are already there.

What you CAN try is to set the all those tables to "ok" (in SAPSSEXC.TSK) where you get an "There is already an object named..." in the logfile.

Markus,

Is there any way we can know why we got initial error.... because after the initial failure, I havent done any corrections to the system other than manipulating TSK & BCK files....

I assume, you want me to update TSK file with "ok" for required tables and want me to retry installation ?

markus_doehr2

It's difficult to help because you can't attach all the logfiles - and putting them into the message makes it very cumbersome to find out what was the real problem...

I would try to put those "ok" in the .TSK file - if that still doesn't work I'd suggest to start from scratch.

Hi Clas,

Hi,

the r3load.exe is writing a log file, one for each Tablegroup. In this log file, at the real beginning, you can see the complete r3load command. Something like (example):

..\bin\X64_uc\r3load.exe -e SAP0000.cmd -p SAP0000.log -dbcodepage 4103

Add the -merge_bck to this command and run it on the commend prompt.

When you run r3load --help you will get help to -merge_bck as well. Please keep in mind, that not all r3load support this command, older might not.

Regards

Clas
