Hi all,

I need to use SAPGUI 710 on Windows Vista

I had done it and updated to version 39 after read in this forums that is required a patch for use under this system. But it keeps not working. The error message is:

WSATYPE_NOT_FOUND

The specified class not found

RELEASE 710

COMPONENT NI (network interface)

VERSION 39

RC -1

MODULE ninti.c

LINE 938

DETAIL NiPGetServByName: 'sapgw00' not found

SYSTEM CALL getaddrinfo

ERRNO 10109

ERRNO TEXT WSATYPE_NOT_FOUND: The specified class was not found.

COUNTER 1

I checked at: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services and 'sapgw00' is added as entry.

Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards.

if sapgw00 is the last line in the file, make sure you add an additional line after it.

Hi Markus,

Thanks for answer. It's not in the end line, but i saw that a blank line is the last one of the file services.ppp and it keeps not working.

how does the line look like (the full line)?

Markus

i don't stand exactly what you need, but i copy here an example about the end of services.ppp

.

.

.

sapmsICF 3600/tcp

sapmsRMT 3610/tcp

sapmsICX 3600/tcp

sapmsRMX 3600/tcp

      • ----------END OF FILE HERE---------- ***

and where is the missing entry sapgw00?

Markus

Markus

The exactly service is SAPDP00 from the error on this machine.

That string is at the middle of the file; the 1º of the sapdp* and the rest of Sap entries list.

You think if i move it will be fine?

You are mixing things up here.

in your error message you're saying something about sapgw00, not sapdp00

Markus

Yeah, sorry for the inconvenience. The error is the DP one, it's a large history but i copy wrongly the sapgw in the first message. I will correct it right now.

It's a big difference between them?

yes..

sapdp<systemnumber> is for the dispatcher

sapgw<systemnumber> is for the gateway

and yes - you need both.

I confirm that DP and GW are added on services.ppp

Federico,

are they also there with the correct number? That's why I wanted to see those two entries.

SAPGUI doesn't find sapgw00

And you are still getting this error? strange

Another question: there is no "patch 39" for SAPGUI 7.10.. what did you install?

Frederico... you are editing the wrong file.

filename is services (with no extension)

it is not services.ppp

do the corrections in the proper file.

Former Member

Hi Eric, at Windows Vista it's services.ppp file

I only see it at that directory.

Hi Markus,

I didn't installed the patch, so i don't know the version. But i see version 39 in the error log.

Hi all many of us are saying SAP will not support on Windows Vista.

nobody is saying that.

We are using Vista on many client machines and it works.

But here u r discussing about SAP on windows vista. Can you guys help out me .Even I have Vista and planning to install SAP.

Can you please tell me what you mean with "planning to install SAP"?

The company SAP has > 200 products which can be installed on various operating systems and databases. It´s right that neither an ERP 6.0 nor an EP 7.0 server will run on Vista.

Hi Federico

I think that your problem will solved doing the following:

1) Open the "REGEDIT"

2) Go to:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\DatabasePath

3) Rename DatabasePath to Databasepathold

4) Create an Expandable-String Value with the same values that Databasepathold, for example

Databasepath

value= %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc

Hope this help you

Hi all,

Hi Manuel,

I have the same error with one PC with windows XP Professional SP2. Suddenly the SAP client stops working and shows the same error description (err no: 10109, err text: wsatype_not_found: the specified class was not found, etc). I have tried all the possible solutions you have mentioned but the problem continues.

Did you have another suggestion?

Regards,

Fernando.

What is the exact error message and what is the content of the services file? If the line you added is the last line, then you have to add another empty line after it, otherwise Windows won't read the last entry.

This is all really strange.

The error message WSATYPE_NOT_FOUND means, that the specified service name (sapdp00) is not supported for the socket type.

Hi

Thanks all for your interest. The problem is solved creating a services file like in Windows XP file, with no '.ppp' and not extension.

Regards,
