Using Archivelink Document Class - '*'

Former Member

Hi all

We have defined in Tcode OAC2 - a document type which has the document class "*" (available by default in SAP). This is done so that the users can upload files of different formats for one document type (e.g. uploading files of both formats .PDF and .DOC in HRIRESUME).

The MIME type definition for the document class as is in the default system is 'text/x-docType'

But whenever we try uploading a file of any format to that particular document type and try retrieving it in the Archivelink Viewer, it does not retrieve the document to be displayed and gives a

SAPHTML_E_CALL_METHOD_FAILED error.

Does anyone know why this error comes and if there is anyway to work around it.

Thanks

Take a look at the below note.

Note 1018948 - HTMLViewer: Document viewer fails to open PDF files.

Note 1282152 - Automation:URL Gets garbled in case of multibyte character.

Hi,

Could you please try the following:

- Start transaction SE16 for the table TOADD.

- Check the entry for the document class '*'.

- The application type next to this is 'SAPHTML' ?

- If yes, delete this entry in the application type. Let this remain blank.

- Save the entry.

Now try the display.

Does this work? Please let me know if this does not.

Best Regards,

Sindhu Sreedharan.
