Is it possible to Upgrade to 6.20 Test Drive from 6.10?

I have MiniWAS 6.10 Test Drive installed. Can I upgrade it to 6.20, or will I have to do an uninstall and reinstall? I remember that the 6.10 Test Drive was adamant about not installing if a SAPDB had already been installed - I'm wondering if I'll have the same problem with 6.20?

I also have WebAS 6.40 Sneak Preview installed - if I have to uninstall 6.10, won't I also have to un isntall 6.40?

Is there a way around the previously installed SAPDB constraint on the Test Drive install?

Thanks...

HI Benny:

I have given up on trying to "upgrade" from 6.10 to 6.20. I have uninstalled 6.40 and 6.10, and pretty much cleaned up the registry (I think). Now I'm trying to install 6.20 from scratch. The installation crashes at 58% with an error that says it can't do this script:

[ADAXUSERSIDADM_DEFAULT_NT_ADA]

ACTION=

CLASS=CExecute

CONFIRMATION=

CONFIRMED=

EXECUTABLE=dbmcli.exe

MSGID=RI_GIST_ADAXUSERSIDADM_IND_IND

OPTIONS=-d @DB_NAME@ -u sap@SAPSYSTEMNAME@,sap -uk DEFAULT -us sap@SAPSYSTEMNAME@,sap -up SQLMODE=SAPR3;TIMEOUT=0;ISOLATION=0;

PATH=@INDEPENDEND_PROG_PATH@\pgm

RC_CODE=0

RC_OK_CODE=0

STATUS=ERROR

STEP_ENV=DB_ENV

The error it reports in the open command window is "Error! Wrong name or password!"

Any idea what's wrong?

Also, can you tell me what the dbmcli options -uk, -us, and -up are? And where they're described/documented?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

it seems you got a problem with MaxDB(SAPDB). It may not have been deinstalled. At least there is something of it already running and keeping your installation flaky.

DBCLI is a program from MaxDB and should be described in its docs (I'm not a specialist for this one)

I have circumvented (or solved) the problems by doing a massive and scrupulous manual modification of the regsistry.

I'll go ahead and mark this answered...

Hello David,

I have tried to install the WAS 6.1 and then install the Sneak Java Preview 6.4. And it tells me that the DB of WAS 6.1 is of version 7.3 and the installation is aborted.

I then tried to install it the other way and the installation of the WAs 6.1 fails, due to the DB installation of the WAS 6.4.

How did you solve the problem?

Thanks for your help.

For previews, we don't care for compatibility issues and update installation. So, as far as nobody has an idea how to do it my guess is that it won't work.
