Dear All
we are using ECC5 orace 9.2.07 with windows 2003 server
init<sid>.ora set
DB_FILE ==> 254
can we incese DB_FILE= 508 ? becase our datafile reached on 240 .
any effect on our database or performance

you can increase this value... and you should!
when you will add datafile/mirrored redologs, over 254, you DB will not add the new datafile.
so, increase this as soon as possible... a DB restart might be needed.

You can increase the DB_FILE parameter and so increase the number of files but you can also check if it would not be wiser to increase the size of the current files.
In the past there were limits to the file sizes but they are now gone but a lot of people still create just small data files (2GB).
