Hi,
Is it possible to have a Scm working without live cache?
technically the system can be "working" with no live cache but you will not be achive anything substantial without it
all planning relevant activities need a memory resident architecture.
among the few things you can do without live cache that i can think of is BW workbench, Masterdata (again not through CIF which needs an active version of LC)

Hi
The answer to your question depends on what you mean by SCM. If you take SAP's current marketing strategy, then SCM consists of several component parts, basically falling under Planning, Execution and Analytics. Now the planning part is mostly what used to be termed as APO and requires livecache to work. The execution part consists mostly of what we old folks fondly remember as R/3 (e.g. MM, PP, WM etc etc) and does not require livecache.
There are several papers and presentations on SAP's site which describe what is required for each area:

You will need a valid SAP User to access this though.

Ian
