Hi Gurus,
We have installed and configured our SRM MDM Catalog 2.0 on our SRM server. We have installed the MDM desktop applications (Like console) on the server itself for the time being.
We would now like to install the desktop applications on our desktops and connect them to the SRM MDM Catalog server. However, we were facing some issues in that, and we have zeroed in to that, we need to open the following ports in the network / server to enable these applications to connect to the MDM server. The error message I am getting is: Error Starting <<hostname>> (MDM Server): The machine '<<hostname>> is not Windows-based . The MDM Server cannot be started from this application; please use CLIX on this machine instead.
Following are the port numbers we found from various documents, not sure if they suffice.
=====================================
Service Default Port
=====================================
Admin Console 20003, 20005
Server to Server 20004
Import Manager 20006
Syndicator Service 20007
Layout Server 31596, 31597, 31604
Layout Server Quark Express 31602
Layout Server Adobe InDesign 31603
Layout Server 31596
MDM Server 2000 to 2010
Oracle listener 1527
=====================================
We would like to know if these ports are sufficient. Pls let us know your opinion on this.
Thanks in advance,
Abdul
Hi Abdul,
Just check with the operating system which has installed on your machine and Server machine.
both should be same otherwise you have to use CLIX commands.
Hope this will help you.
Any further help then please let me know.

Hi Abdul,
Instead of using the host name of MDM server machine, just try out with the IP Address of MDM Server machine.
otherwise go to window "Run" and type there as "drivers" then window will open there you can see one folder name as "etc". go inside of this folder u will find a file name as "hosts", open this file with notepad and defined the IP Address against the MDM Server machine host name.
for example:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Just try out with these two options.Hope now this will help you.
