Unable to execute tcodes SOLUTION_MANAGER , SMSY in solution manager 4.0

Hi Dear All,

I have recently installed solman 4.0 in windows

It contains the fallowing support packs.

SAP_BASIS 700 0011

SAP_ABA 700 0009

PI_BASIS 2005_1_700 0009

ST-PI 2005_1_700 0002

SAP_BW 700 0009

SAP_AP 700 0006

SAP_HR 600 0007

SAP_APPL 600 0006

Here i want to configure Manintainence optimiser and unable to execute SOLUTION_MANAGER , DSWP, SMSY.

Can any one please help me how to proceed with the current situation.

I havent done anything after the instalation ( Just applied support packs 1008717 and 975872.

Hi ,

Sorry actually the error is ( The software component of ST is not present)

As there is no ST Software component i am unable to execute tcodes mentoned above.

Can any one help me how to install the ST software component.

I tried in the market place to look for instalation steps but i cant find any.

Please help me guys.

Hi Vamsi,

Apply the patches upto the mark, I think you miss the ST patch component.

Check it & install if it is not.

Hi Vamsi,

Is it not bad to ask anybody for contact number on such a professional forum?

I don't have any problem to give my contact number, but here we all are sharing the knowledge, so whatever the queries you have EXPERTS will give proper advice to solve them.

Remeber one thing I may wrong on some steps, somebody can give you the proper solution if we talk through the thread.

Try to apply the latest SP stack as it may be solution for your problem.

I apolozise for the same , I am not sure how to apply the patches for the component that is not present. as when i am trying to apply the Addons i cant find the component ST to select so unable to perform the action,

Can any one please tell me what are all the steps to be performed for a new software component.

I reread your initial question - and what you wanna do is not possible. You can´t just add the component "ST" to an ERP system.

Solution Manager is a separate system, separate installation - combined ABAP + Java - just adding ST won´t help - and is not possible.

The main theme for me is to configure MAINTAINENCE OPTIMISER in SOLUTION MANAGER.

as i am unable to execute above mentioned tcodes i found out that the ST software component is not present.

what are all the other possible ways for me to configure the Maintainence Optimiser in solman.

As this SOLMAN is a brand new system.

Please help me out.

Yes - as you said yourself - a new SYSTEM, not just an "ST-addon".

You have not installed Solution Manager but an ERP system - Solution Manager is not included and need to be installed SEPARATELY (using sapinst et al).

Hi Dear Markus,

I have installed SOLMAN on a new server from DVD

BS2005_Installation_manster\IM_WINDOWS_I386\sapinst.exe

As the ERP is running on different server.

I am just refering to the document provided to me

while installation of SOLMAN in the instalation process while selecting the software units i have selected only (ECC , ABAP) .is this where the problem is?

You did use the wrong installation CD set.

You were installing BS2005 - which is Business Suite 2005 - means ERP 2005. Solution Manager has a separate installation CD/DVD set.

The system you installed is just another ERP system (containing SAP_HR and SAP_APPL).

1. When installing in the software units section what needs to be selected like (ABAP , JAVA)

2. Is kernel for Business suit and SOLMAN are same ? As i dont have kernel patch 700 for solman and i have the DVD for Business suit.

If you use the correct Solution Manager Installation Master CD (and not the one you used which is for ERP) you will not get asked that question.

Yes - the kernel is the same.
