EDI Implementation Solution using SAP NetWeaver XI

Hi,

I have EAI/B2B implementation experience using other Integration Platforms (viz ... webMethods / Mercator / TLE) and was looking for similar functionalities in SAP NetWeaver XI, but it seems that this integration platform doesn’t provide complete EDI System.

Can anyone post there experience or case study for implementation of EDI Solution (i.e. processing of EDI Standard messages from Trading Partners using SAP NetWeaver XI.

Also i have read other people thread posts about implementation of EDI using 3rd Party EDI Adapter (See burger), but i am not clear about the features provided by the adapter as there was no documentation that is available in public.

My Question is what does this Adapter provides ? Does it provides EDI Message Catalogs Standards in XML format , which we can be used in SAP XI environment to convert it to either canonical xml or to idoc xml format ?

Please post your valuable experience of EDI Implementation.

Just started working with SeBurger EDI adapters.

Took us 3 months to evaluate and play around with the different partner gateway solutions and also the SeeBurger EDI adapers.

Still figuring things out, maybe a few weeks down the line, I can provide some concrete answers. All I can say for the moment is it has been a mind boggling experience and we are facing serious questions on hoq to proceed architecturally as we plan to onborad 400 plus suppliers on XI-EDI.

XI dont have the functionality to convert the EDI format file to XML structure hence it need the third party adapter like Seeburger AS2,X400,OFTPS,VAN adapter to convert the EDI format to XML strucutre.

NOw let me give u brief overview about the Seeburger:

Seeburger adapters like OFTPS,AS2,X400 are used for B2B scenario where the file is coming through WAn network or mailbox. As XI dont have capability to convert the EDIFACT format file to XML the same work will be done by seeburger adapters.

The SEEBURGER Business Integration Converter (BIC) is an any-to-any format converter, used to translate EDI data and legacy data formats into XML and vice versa. It can also be used for complex, high performance XML-to-XML mappings or to interface to existing JDBC data sources.

Supported EDI formats include:

• ANSI

• EDIFACT

• INHOUSE

• IDOC

• XML Schema

• XML DTD

• CSV

• Delimited Data

• positional data

• SWIFT

• EANCOM

and many more.

See for converting the EDI XML to EDI and XML-EDI you need to have a seeburger mapping program at the adapter module which does the conversion. For this module you need a BIC tool of seeburger which provides the different module program for EDI to XML and XML-EDI. This program needs to be deployed on XI and through adapter it has to be called for conversion.

In order to implement the B2B scenario you need to follow the following steps:

1) Install Seeburger adapter on XI.

2) Install the Seeburger AS2 server on XI

3) Use the std mapping provided by seeburger in the adapter module to convert the EDI to XML and XML to EDI.
