We have decelopment with 3 clients
Test with one client
Production one client
With a database copy from Production to Development which is not advised by Sap.
I would loose all my clients and all version management ??
Also If I had applied for example support pack 52 in developmemt but Production was at support pack 48
Would this put Development back to support pack 48
Whar are the major differences between doing a client copy compared to a database copy.
I already mentioned some of the differences but I'm looking for
more suggestions.
THANKS
Joe
Hi Joe,
sorry to tell you, that you are in pretty bad luck in general ;-((
It is NOT allowed to use a client copy with different support packs !!!
=> BEFORE you update support packs on one site, you will do a client copy !
=> A systemcopy would be good now in order to get rid of this problem ...
Yes, you would lose all clients and versions ;-(
What can you do here ?
- Version Export: note 130906 describes this in detail and the import afterwards as well ...
- missing clients: You could copy the smaller clients to PRD which shouldn't take too long as they are hopefully small. Otherwise you could export them and reimport later on (after that you updated the Support Packs in your DEV)
=> There are options, but as you did a lot of errors by now, it is not a totally normal procedure ...

Hi Joe,
no, the packs are overwritten back from 52 down to 42 with a systemcopy.
but, this is in my eyes your only chance, as you cannot test in any other case as you forgot the client copy before ;-((
