Formatting Weblogs

Former Member
0 Kudos

I am writing some weblogs and I see that <textarea> HTML tag doesn't work -- I opened several weblogs that use this tag and all the text just runs on.

There is other bad formatting -- small type, big extra spaces, and so forth.

What is going on? Is it my browser or is something going on with SDN?

Thanks.

Daniel

Hi guys,

Weblog system was being updated and some items had problems, formatting should be back to normal soon.

Hi Eddy,

Although I appreciate all the responses, so far the Weblog formatting is still messed up and the problem has not been solved or even partly solved.

If there is a resolution to the issue, I will be happy to award points.

Hi Craig,

The formatting is still not working. Is there any estimate of when the problem will be fixed?

Thanks.

If you find any additional tags (see <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/10/24/sdn-weblogs-and-formatting">weblog</a>) then just drop us a line.

That's an awful random non-standard one - do you really need it?

Craig,

fieldset is W3C and is rather useful for browser for visual impaired people.

Btw, I wished <object> would be allowed again.

No problem from my side, using Firefox

I tried firefox but I get the same problems, most notable, the <textarea> tag doesn't work. I deleted my cache.

Hi,

Then it could be that there was a small hickup. I had this sometimes when I was editing a web log. When I was saving, it asked me for a userid/passwd in the weblog system itself. It vanished by close the browser and cleaning the cache when restarted.

Hi Eddy,

The weblogs still don't work.

It does not seem to be a browser problem, because when I do view source, I see &lt;textarea&gt;, which is being correctly. I don't understand why SDN doesn't send the text as <textarea>.

The same thing happens when I view some of Prakash Singh web logs that has code inside <textarea> tag.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Hi,

I don't have a problem from my side though in any browser. I don't think it's a general problem, otherwise no web logs would be published. I would suggest then to send a mail to the SDn admin in order to know if they see something.

looks like a general problem for both IE & mozilla firefox.

check the comment on the weblog of Prakash Singh

Hi Prakash,

Sorry to bother you about this but ...

The code in your article does not display correctly because the <textarea> tag is returned as "<textarea>" and so I see the tag and all the contents are squooshed together.

Does this happen to you? Why would it be happening to me?

It seems like an SDN problem and not a browser problem.

Thanks for any help on this.
