I trying to install SAP Solution manager 4.0 SR3:

OS: Linux RHEL4u4

DB: Oracle

OK I found out what the problem was and I solved it like this: I just added <SID>adm to group root. The problem was that I copied the installation DVD to root's desktop. Because I start the installation as a root, that was not an issue. But during the installation <SID>adm and ora<SID> doing also some stuff and then they need sufficient rights on the directories and files where only root has rights. There are also various solutions to this small issue but I think the quick (and maybe dirty) and effective way to solve it is to add these two users to root group till you are finished with installation. After that you can remove them from root.
