Dear Ramesh Babu,
As per SAP, anything from A to X is maintained by them and hence comes under standard .
Y and Z are used for custom development. For practical purpose we use Z for custom development.
Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

Rakesh

This is the rule imposed by SAP. SAP reserves all the other Pricing Procedure Condition Types names starting with A to X for its standard Pricing Procedure Condition Types. Users are allowed to create Pricing Procedure Condition Types starting with Y and Z only.
i.e. Pricing Procedure Condition Types Starting with A to X are STANDARD Pricing Procedure Condition Types
Pricing Procedure Condition Types Starting with Y and Z are CUSTOM GENERATED Pricing Procedure Condition Types generally created basing on the user requirement with an additional functionality to the standard Pricing Procedure Condition Types .
Y-- is used for Local Development.
Z-- is used for Actual Development.
Reward Points if useful.

hi ramesh
when u r upgrading the system to higher versions for example from 4.7 to ecc6.0 then the system will copy the objects starting from y and z.
this is precisely the reason.
reward if helpful

The reason for using letters Z & Y in customizing and copying is that...
In Standard SAP practice while upgrading from lower to Upper version release eg: SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0
The Upgrade will copy only the Z & Y name objects in the new transports but if you name in place of A to X these will not be copied .
It is used for standard SAP procedures .
Award sutaibly

Dear rameshbabu punna
If your copying std and maintaining prefix you have to use Z or Y becouse to understand other people also that this is coppied if you maintain what ever you want other pureson con'r uderstand either it is coppied or std. So why pre fix Z or Y. Is it clear.
Reward if u feel ok.
