Hello,
I got request from our Security department to change the standard password of user SAPR3 to other different password.
Can you tell me is this the right procedure?
ALTER USER SAPR3 IDENTIFIED BY sap;
When I tried to change it using the Oracle Enterprise manager, after I got many logs in SM21 transaction:
"> ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Database error 1017 at UPD access to table SWT_LOGCAT"
Or there is another way of changing this password without providing error message?
Thank you in advance.
Many regards,
Ruzica
Thank you all,
Regards,
Ruzica

You can use brtools ( it call brconnect ) to change the password

Hi,
One clarification:
1) you MUST use brconnect ( or brtools ) to change the password of the SAPR3 user
2) You MUST configure the OPS$ mechanism BEFORE changing the password
Refer to:
SAP Note 400241 Problems with ops$ or sapr3 connect to Oracle
SAP Note 361641 Creating OPS$ users on UNIX
SAP Note 50088 Creating OPS$ users on Windows NT/Oracle
