DB13 dbverify

We are having an issue with setting up a DBVERIFY in DB13

We would like to schedule checks for Oracle block corruption in DB13

using DBVERIFY to run at quiet times but it seems this can only be done

offline. We see in brtools that we can run DBVERIFY online i.e. while

R/3 is running. How can we make DB13 run DBVERIFY without taking the

database offline? Is DBVERIFY the recommended way to check for Oracle

block corruption?

Please help regarding the same.

Thanks,

xyz

Hi,

There is one missing

- SAP Notes

Very easy to find if you use the help on the left upper corner, Idid a quick search and got two notes back and one has the correct answer:

SAP Note Number: 204499

DB13: New actions in the DBA planning calendar

>Verify database

>----

>Verifies the database files with BRBACKUP option "-w only_dbv". The Oracle utility DBVERIFY is called in order to verify the individual files. To determine whether this action is carried out online or offline, use the parameter backup_type in the standard profile init<SID>.sap.

No need to edit the SDBAC table ( not supported )

<Grumping on>

Total search time 1 minute

writting this 2 minutes

Time between the initial question and first answer-> around 3 hours

Time between the initial question and this answer-> more than 7 hours

I wonder why people is sooooooo lazy that are not able to do a simple search - using the tools provided in this community, no need to go to SMP or other place

<Grumping off>

<disclaimer on>

The grumping is directed to the people who ask the questions not to the ones who answer

This note would not have solved my problem.

In init<SID>.sap I had online_cons and I was getting the warning in db13 -dbverifiy. I had to manually edit sdbac to get DBVeify to work correctly.

  • The SAP Note search engine is terrible, you get better information from google.
