VAT regist number error in customer master

Hi all,

I am facing an error "E:ZMSG:008 the VAT regist number is already customer",while creating the customer master and hence unable to create new customers or make any changes to the existing customers.

Please reply with the possible solution.

The message class is ZMSG which seems to be a customized class. May be some user exit has been used in customer class.

Go to se (1 to view the message class, select 008 message no entry and press where used list. It will provide u the list of programs may be it would help you.
