Hello,
First of all I am not sure if have posted this message in the correct forum.
I am trying to get an understanding about the new CTS+ but am not able to find any good material yet. Can anyeone throw some light on the following questions regarding CTS +?
- I have heard that CTS+ can be used to transport ABAP, Java and EP objects. Do this include webdynpro Java, Webdynpro ABAP and XI objects?
- Is there any other purpose of the CTS+ other than transport management (version management, central build etc. like in NWDI)
- What are some of the major advantages and drawbacks of using CTS+?
- If we start using CTS+ will we still need the NWDI?
- I have the documents on setting up the CTS+. Apart from these are there any other good documents, links available?
Thanks in Advance,
Reena
Hi Reena,
You can use CTS+ to transport the Integration Builder Objects (IR and ID) in XI. For further reference, you can check out the below link.
The CTS+ is used for the transporatation of non-ABAP objects, J2EE developments and also for enriching the transportaion using the NWDI. It does not replace the NWDI.
The transportation of KMC objects are still not the part of CTS.
you can also check out the below links.

Hi Reena,
>> I have heard that CTS+ can be used to transport ABAP, Java and EP objects. Do this include webdynpro Java, Webdynpro ABAP and XI objects?
Yes CTS + can be used to transport all the objects mentioned above.
>> What are some of the major advantages and drawbacks of using CTS+?
The major advantage of CTS+ transport is that it can be used as single transport mechanism for transporting mixed applications like XI where we have ABAP as well as java objects for transport from one server (e.g Development) to other server(e.g QA).
>> If we start using CTS+ will we still need the NWDI?
For mixed applications like XI we do not need NWDI for transporting java objects exclusively we can transport them using CTS+. while for transporting java only objects yes we would require NWDI.
Please go through the following link it eplains CTS+ transport mechanism very well and answers all your questions.

Hello All,
Thanks a lot for your replies. I have a better understanding now.
Still few questions regarding the transport of Java only objects.
What exactly do you mean by Java only objects? We are mainly concerned with the transports of Webdynpro for Java projects (SCA files) and PCD objects (iviews, roles, etc.) Are these Java only objects?
Also how about the transports of PAR files? Can this be done using CTS+?
Thanks once again.

Reena
Hi Reena,

By Java only we mean the objects which lie on Java stack like integration Repository and ya Webdynpro(SCA)etc.

Amit
