Deploying EAR to J2EE from NWDS

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to deploy a EAR from NWDS to J2EE, but it always prompts for a SDM Password.

I've been talking to my SysAdmin team, and they can't give me that password, but they can give me any role i need.

The problem is that i am never prompted for the user, only password.

Isn't possible to deploy using a regular user?

Hi Jose,

You need to enter the SDM password for deployment. Or else you can give yourear file to your sys admin team and tell them to deploy it directly in SDM.

Thanks for quick answer.

That was the answer i didn't want to hear

It should be possible to deploy with any user, if it had the right permissions

I dont think so Jose... You will be deploying it in SDM. So how much ever roles you have, you will be always asked for the password:(

Hi Jose !

As far as I know, we always need the SDM user password to deploy EAR from NWDS. When security policies were present that don't agree with this scheme, we just mailed the EAR files to the admin for him to deploy them using the deploy tool from NetWeaver.
