Handling Units Management for a STO receipt

hi,

We have STO scenario where the shipping plant delivers material via handling unit. In the receiving plant we are able to receive the material via handling units ( By selecting the via handling units box in the MIGO).

However this seems to be receiving the material inventory , but the HU status is still showing as PSTD and hence we are not able to deliver this HU from the receiving plant.

On reading the documentation, we tried to configure the storage location in receiving plant as HU managed with a partner storage location, but this for some reason expecting confirmation control in the STO. Even after creating the confirmation, now system is trying to create another inbound delivery and expecting us to create another HU.

Can we reuse the HU without any additional work as the receiving plant is just a forwarding plant and don't do much work except consolidating HUs from different plant.

Hi,

If you want to receive, store and deliver the HUs, you need to define a HU storage loc like mentionned in your message.

Then, do not use the MIGO with the HU box : in the STO order, you need to activate confirmations (0004 inbound delivery) : you will be able to generate directly the inbound delivery with VL31N in reference to your PO.

You have some scenarii within SAP where the inbound delivery (containing the HUs) can be created automatically via Idoc when you post the GI of the outbound delivery.

Thanks for the inputs.

Still one thing that is not clear for me is should we have to create inbound delivery in the receiving plant though we have created a outbound delivery in the sending plant?

Should we have to do GR against a outbound or inbound in this case?. Should we have create handling unit again in the receiving plant for the inbound delivery? In that case will we be able to use the same HU number ( and data inside that HU).
