Hi,

I am trying to restore my test server with my PRD data base backup file( taken from DB13)

This is newly installed ( 4.7E, SQL2000SP3,Win2003Server)

At the end of the restore, i am getting the following error,

"Microsoft SQL-DMO(ODBC SQLState:42000)

Cannot associate files with different databases"

host name, sid, and instance number are same as my PRD server,

Please tell me why i am getting this error !!!! Where i did the mistake?

Regards,

Gayathry.

You have the same hostname and same SID as your production system? This is not recommended and not valid, hostnames and SIDs must be different in a landscape...

check http://service.sap.com/systemcopy

how to do a copy of your SQL server database.

Hi Markus,

I am trying to restore the database in my TEST SERVER. which has different ip segment from my PRD. So i given same SID,hostname, and instance number.

I am restoring through enterprise manager with my PRD(LIVE) backup file which was taken from DB13.

Earlier i restored successfully, now also i followed the same procedure. But i am not aware of SQL much, to analyze the errors.
