DBACOCKPIT on win2k3 and iSeries DBs

Dear all,

since we're in a mixed environment (mssql and DB2/400), we decided to implement the DBACOCKPIT functionnalities on a NW7.0 machine.

We'd like to monitor from here also the iSeries 46C databases we have, although we installed the client software (iSeries access) and the needed additional LIB_DBSL dlls for iSeries on this NW machine, we still cannot monitor the remote iSeries DBs.

Well, we can successfully start the secondary DB connection to the iSeries, but no data are shown in the dbacockpit.

ANy hints ?

Thanks in advance.

Franco.

Hi Franco,

monitoring a remote DB2 database on i5/OS through DBACOCKPIT only works for databases at SAP release 6.20 and higher. Because of the general SAP release strategy we do not have plans to support databases at 4.6C or earlier.

We will update SAP Note 1028173 to document this restriction.

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.

Hi Franco,

I have spoken to the colleague who is processing your ticket, and I just realized that the remote monitoring requires 6.40 as a minimum release, not 6.20. Since 6.20 based systems are still in maintenance, we may consider adding code to support releases prior to 6.40 for remote monitoring. However, I cannot say if that can be done short-term, or if it needs some time to implement those changes. In any case, we will update the SAP Note with that information.

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.

Thank you Christian,

strange, I've opened a ticket to SAP, apparently the haven't got yet to the same conclusion !

Cheers.

Hi kaushal,

thank you for the note you've suggested, we've applied it, however no luck yet.

We can successfully monitor the mssql systems, but no data shown when switching with dbacockpit to the iseries systems, even if the connection is established successfully. Here's the communication string with the system CR1 as seen in the DBCON table

AS4_DB_RDBNAME=;AS4_HOST=gdc02;AS4_CON_TYPE=SOCKETS;AS4_NQE_OPTIMIZE_METHOD=F;AS4_DB_LIBRARY=R3CR1DATA

We used the <SID>OFR as a connection user, tried also the <SID>nn, same resoult, we can swith but no data ...

Hi Fanco,

I guess, you are doing this on your W2K MSS SAP System ...

did you load the dbdb4slib.dll first ? Otherwise the multiconnect cannot work ...
