system is running with ipaddress not with hostname

Hi Experts,

i am trying to log in the system with the system details with Application server = ipaddress it is working. but when i am trying to change that Application server=hostname it is not working? where the settings need to be done. my system env: ECC6.0, Oracle10.2, SuSE Linux

Hi,

i think your network is unable to resolve you Hostname into IP add.. Check with your IT team if you have DNS in your network.

Hi,

Make IP address & Hostname entry in hosts file of system. Hosts file path is C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Open with notepad and make server entry into this file.

A quick test would be to ping the Application server hostname from your workstation. It should be able to resolve it to an IP address, else you'll need to map the IP address to the hostname in the DNS.
