1.Archive all productive repositories
Perform this step after checking and repairing all repositories.
Using MDM Console or a CLIX-based batch procedure, archive all repositories you want
to reuse after the upgrade.
We recommend that you copy the archives from the MDM file location to a specific
backup location.
2. Back up the MDM installation file system
Copy the complete path for the existing MDM installation to the backup location.
Standard path for Windows is <System partition>:\Program Files\SAP MDM
5.5; for Unix: /usr/local or /opt.
3.Save your CCMS monitoring environment
If you have used CCMS monitoring for the MDM, back up the CCMS environment on
your host (common location is <System partition>:\usr\sap\prfclog).
4. Save MDM-specific portal environment
Export the SP04 custom portal content and download it to a local epa file.
hope this may help you,
Regards,
Srinivas

Hi Amit
- Download all components you need from swdc.
- Backup your current mdm binaries and the mds/mdis/mdss directory on the server, stop and archive your repository(s), you might take a backup of the database as well
- stop all mdm processes
- delete the old binaries, unpack the new ones, install the client tools and other components as needed (java api...)
- start the mdm and update the repositories in the console (you cannot downgrade the rep to SP04 after that)
- start the reps and test if everything is fine
I personally had no issues, but we are running the mdm server on linux.
Best regards, Michael
