Kindly provide any information regarding business processes, configuration docuements, any Power Point Presentations, Simple end user training documents for "telecom projects" relevent to Investment management and Project System Modules.

Hi Saqib,

Some of the more important helpful hints for your PS/IM project:

<b>0. What kind of projects?</b> Expense, Capital, or Revenue? If expense, is it Marketing or R&D, or other? These questions determine how you configure the project profile.

<b>1. Don't spend a lot of time devising complicated project coding masks.</b> You could spend months, but should really spend about 2 weeks or less.

<b>2. Be clear on how 'planning' and 'budgeting' will be used.</b> Many clients view these two words as the same thing. Of course, in SAP they are not. Also, does your client need Overall (without regard to year?) and / or Annual plans and budgets on the projects?

3. For planning, will there be a 3rd party application used by engineering for detailed planning? <b>Will the PS WBS really need planning values</b> or do they only need 'budget' values. Who will enter the values and How?

<b>4. For budgeting, does your client want to 'control' commitments</b> by using availabilty control in an 'active' (Use of Error message to STOP purchase) mode, or simply 'passively' in reporting. Who will enter the values and How?

4.1. Availability control can be indirectly extended from the IM program to the PS WBS, by use of transaction IM52. You configure this linkage on the project budget profile at OPS9. You enter a program type which you have created at Investment Management > Investment Programs > Master Data > Define Program Types.

<b>5. If these are revenue projects, learn about KKAJ</b> - Results Analysis calculations, and the configuration in PS at OKG3 -Define valuation methods. IMG > Project Systems > Revenue and Earnings > Automatic and Periodic Allocations > Edit Results Analysis.

6. Appropriation Requests are the 'wish list' projects. Depending on the client this is sometimes too much change to consider on the initial implementation. <b>Evaluate your client's capacity to absorb this change carefully.</b> It is part of a very large overall strategic business process, which goes to the core of a company's 1 year, 3 year, and 5 year extended planning forecast.
