Hi.,

Its Completely clear that SAP installation is not possible in Vista.

Its possible only in Windows 2000 & 2003 server OS which are commonly available ones.

You can have XP and 2003 server both in same server.

Since vista is a latest one it is not possible to install a old one after it.

If any newer server version comes you can install with Vista,

they are expecting Windows 2008 server recently, you can have a note on it.

I think you would have settled with a OS in your system, since this a bit old thread.

Virtual-OS is an open source web operating system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual-OS -try this for your doubt on virtual os.

If you have a better solution ,reply it.

Arun

Hi There,

I managed to get SAP working on Vista.

Install SAP as normal then find your saplogon.exe file. Right click on this and select Properties. Set the Compatibility mode to XP SP2 and also set to run as Administrator.

Try it now.... does it work?

Cheers

George.

apply to the saplogon.exe file and then launch this file. Then simply select your required option.

Hi, about George's response, SAP GUI 7.10 Core is compatible for Windows Vista, and don't need to workaround it. Even run for Vista x64.

Now, about the main subject, Girish, SAP ERP, R/3, R/3 Enterprise doesn't run on XP/Vista, because is server oriented. So, you can manage that on Virtual environments, like VMWare (SAP Note 674851 - Virtualization on Windows, SAP Note 895807 - SAP support in virtualized Linux environments, http://www.vmware.com/partners/alliances/technology/sap.html)

If you have another question, please post it here.

darcas

VISTA is not supported...

only windows 2000 server and 2003 server are supported os...

you could go for a virtual os and install sap r/3 to that virtual os...

Hi Girish,

Virtual-OS is an open source web operating system or distributed web desktop developed by Advanced Webhosting Network that creates a shared virtual desktop environment on a remote server to promote collaboration, simplify content management and potentially reduce the effort associated with network installation.

You need resources on your system to have it. Some of virtual system do utilize alot of system resources. It's something like OS in another OS.

I hope it helps you .

Hi,

I do not think that Andreas was talking about that "virtual-OS" but more to the vmware (www.vmware.com) or virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx)

It is an OS inside an OS.

The amount of resources needed depend on the usage you want to give to that OS.

If you want to install SAP, yes it needs a looot of resources
