SAP ECC 5 WITH ORACLE

Hi

I installed ECC 5 with Oracle, I started the Database from SAP Management Console and I have a problem when I want to logon with Sapgui. I have the message when trying to connect : "Application server shutdown Please try another application server" then Component DPTM, Release 460, return code -17.

Is anyone can help me about this to solve this problem ? Thank you in advance. Best regards.

Hello Raphael,

Taking a look at all the dev* files, there seems to the following problems.

1. The dev_disp file shows some network warnings. Can you check your network settings and also the host files in the "C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc". Also check the services files in the same directory. Are you using two NIC cards on this machine?

2. The dev_w0 file shows DB connectivty issues. Run "R3trans -x" as <SID>adm and have a look at the trans.log file generated, it will give detailed error on the DB connectivity issue.

Have a look at his sample chapter from sap press book "http://www.sap-press.de/download/dateien/1327/sappress_sap_on_windows.pdf"

the problem is:

ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

try this:

SQLPLUS "/ as sysdba"

shutdown immediate;

startup;

then stop and restart SAP. supply results.

Why is this hapenning? because you have not installed Oracle with SAP parameters.check the installation guide and do not run setup.exe... you must run sapserver.cmd to install Oracle.

using setup.exe will change a registry key that will tell Oracle to start the oracleservice[SId] starts. This is not wanted in a SAP installation.

are you using a sapgui 4.6? with ecc5? go for the latest sapgui (= 7.10)...this should work

I installed SAPGUI 7.10 and I have the same error, first when I want to log : application server shutdown please try another application .

Then when I want to log a second time I have this message : partner 'ERP:sapdp00' not reached

WSAECONNREFUSED : connection refused

then when I read details I can see : error n° 10061.

Is anyone can help me please . Thank you in advance.

Your system is constantly starting up and shutting down.

Is your SAP system running on the same server as your SAPGUI?

The files dev_w0, dev_ms etc. are the trace files and can be found in the work directory of your SAP instance server.

Can you see the Oracle DB and SAP dw processes runnging on the OS? Seems like you have a DB and SAP issue.

The Oracle 1033 is usually an error you get then a shutdown is in progress.

Make sure the DB is mounted and open.

I also see "Got ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\ora92 from environment" in the logs. New generation SAP needs Oracle 10.2, is this a 10.2 installation?

Check the system profiles for enqueue settings and make sure the DB is up and running, make sure R3trans works as well by running R3trans -d

He uses ECC 5.0 which is based on 6.40 and works fine with Oracle 9.2

Any errors in SM21 log, dev* trace or Oracle alert log?
