Can't connect to SQL server GKB database

Former Member

I've installed Visual Composer on my laptop with Portals, SQL server and IIS. When installing Visual Composer, it asked for a domain name. What do I put in there?

When I try to run VC, I get a message saying cannot connect to GKB database. What is the GKB database and any ideas why I can't connect to it?

Thanks,

Dae Jin

Your laptop needs to be on a domain otherwise the installation button will be greyed out.

Can you put any domain name? What is the impact of the domain name? How can I change the Domain Name?

This is the error I get when I try t orun GUIMachine: Unable to connect to database: Unspecified Error

You need to put in the domain name that your server is on. I think that the error in connecting is that you aren't on a domain so it is trying to connect to the database server using just the server name which may prevent it from resolving.

I have everything running on my laptop. So what domain do I use?

You either need to put your laptop on a domain or change your dns settings to automatically append a domain suffix. This domain should be the same as the domain that the R3 box sits on.
