Netweaver 2004s ABAP Trial / upgrade from SP7 to SP 11 possible? / no help

Dear ALL,

there are 2 questions:

A.

I have installed the Trial version which is on SP7 and I want to upgrade to SP11.

Is that possible and if so, could somebody briefly guide me how to do?

B.

Help texts are not available. I assume this is due to I'm still on SP7 or is there some settings to be changed?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Stefan

Hello Klaus,

I've downloaded the newer version and installed it successfully.

Application help is now also available.

Thank you very much for your perfect input.

Best Regards

Hello Klaus,

thanks a lot for your recommendations.

As it will take ages to download the 2 files (and there might be a risk of failure) I'm thinking of doing the upgrade to SP12 manually- if possible with an S-User at SAP Marketplace (?)

Question is if I will get the SPs from SAP without having SolMan in place?

May I also ask question B again: Is help texts just a matter of SP or of certain settings?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Stefan,

You will get the SP's up to level 11 without a SolMan. For any newer SP you will need a SolMan.

What kind of help text do you mean? If you talk about the the menu "Help"->"Application Help" in the SAP system, please check transaction SR13. I attached a screenshoot, please make sure you have the same entries.

Regards,

Klaus

Hello Stefan,

I propose to download and install the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version SP12 from

<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2">https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2</a>

If you have already some code on the server that you like to transfer, there are blogs how to do this at:

<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80fd9a0a-e306-2a10-c896-b84c77c13ed2">Export</a>

<a href="/people/manfred.lutz/blog/2007/04/27/abap-trial-version-for-newbies-part-9-importing-a-transport-into-sp1112

The described procedure should work in your case. If you really want to upgrade "manual", you need an account on SAP Service Marketplace, download SP8, SP9, SP10, SP11 and apply it one by one, which will take you somehow longer than installing just SP13.

Hope this helps,

Klaus
