What is the most efficient format for source data when using Import Manager? What decides the format efficiency of the data to be imported?

Heii Krutarth,

The efficient formats for massive upload are Microsoft Excel and Access, with no differences in performance. As Excel has limitations related to maximum number of records a single spreadsheet can hold, Access is the recommended option.

And you find more with this.

Hi Krutarth,

In addition to Simonas answer i would like to add that if you are using remote systems then you cant use excel because excel is a read only file in MDM and it doesnt allows you to do any modificications like clonning the field.

In SP05 in remote systems you can use xml format only for manual processing and not for automatic processing. For that you have to give xml schmea as your file type.

Hi Krutarth,

The use of the right data format basically depends on the sytem you are trying to integrate.

MDM supports different formats such as excel, access, xml, flat, delimilted text etc.

Now depending on the format the remote sytem is sending data to MDM or wishes to receive data from MDM we will hve to send data in the required format.
