Suda/Jimmy,

I assumed $3000.00 Pro license has NO expiration?

Also, my client wants me to convince why SAP is better than Dynamics GP? I am not really familiar with GP, but I am sure in terms of Office integration, they are better than SAP.

Any feedback?

Tom - there might also be a yearly maintenance fee - % wise that is - better check that out before going foward with dollars...I would agree with some folks here that you really should check with a partner in your area first (having been in Finance area sometimes I know how those "oopsies" can get you!)...

Good Luck - Zal

Zal:

Yearly maintenance fee? The client has their own ERP specialist to take care their internal system. So I doubt that they are willing to spend some more $$ to pay partner some fees.

Is this possible to waive the yearly fee? Basically they just want to get full license (no expiration) -and- then no string attached.

Tom - I am not certain about that % yearly fee; ergo my "maybe".

All of the customers I deal with pay this and, since I am a humble independent on my own, I do not know the exact details as to whom it is paid or what other factors are involved (i.e., % per pro user? or % on overall package? or % is negotiated somehow?). The customers have just mentioned it to me in passing and I thought it would be a point you would want to pursue further as you get your quote together...

Good Luck...

Tom,

The licenses ...Pro or CRM does not expire? They are permanent licenses and the Client owns them.

The yearly maintenance you are hearing is not mandatory. The yearly maintenance runs somewhere around 17% of your total software cost.

By staying on maintenance you get all latest Patches and Upgrades from SAP for FREE and also you get Support from SAP.

Its a choice.

The pro license will be ended 9999. You also have to pay maintenance fee (17% standard and 22% premium). The benefits are support on technical, PL and version upgrade, etc.

Great plain is really made in MS dynamics for US market. I could not deny that it will be better than SAP because of rich financial and accounting modules. The modules are made to grab US accounting system, etc. I also find it weakness compared to SAP B1, where SAP B1 has also strength in its US localisation especially tax, financial modules, banking and its addon including in the product (it is free).

Tom - send me an Email at ZalParchem@bellsouth.net - I have the name of a fellow who has worked extensively in SAP B1 and Great Plains. I know he would be more than willing to give you a small run-down on both...

Tom,

I believe you have the ability to request for a revised license once the first temp one expires. I am not too sure about 6 months.

Do you know approximately how much to acquire SAP B1 license for 5 power-user? We need license only, no instructions/training/consultation required. Let me know you can always email me direct at hartelectronic at gmail dot com.

Hello,

you could phone the local SAP branch in your country to know more about the license price. You could buy the license only and then installing it by your self. The company I work for selling the license based on the local SAP branch suggestion/rule.

Is it possible to request license from portal that is good for 6 months?

Hi Tom,

There seems impossible to request temporary license from portal https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000548322&_SCENARIO=011000358700000001...

for 30 days. What portal is that ? I always have to request biweekly or only 14 days. The evaluation license is available for 30 days after installation but the weakness is that it can't be used when you are trying to upgrade the version of the PL.

Rgds,
