Dear Friends,

Our company has a requirement to install SAP Livecache on Linux.I searched for the s/w on service marketplace but I got only Livecache client s/w & not server s/w.After some thorogh search I got a SAP note where it was mentioned that standalone Livecache is not available for linux instead install SCM.So I installed SCM 5.0 with Livecache with oracle database & Red Hat Linux 4 OS.

Also I installed Livecache client on ECC 6.0 machine.Now I want to coonect from ECC 6.0 machine(livecache client) to SCM 5.0 server(Livecache server).I don't know how to establish this connection.If anybody knows please do let me know because its very urgent for me.

I have one doubt --Is MaxDB mandatory for livecache?

because I installed SCM with Oracle & not MaxDB.

Also please guide me about the installation.If you have any comments ,any suggestions or any other awy of achieving the same then please do share it.

My objective is to get the access to livecache functionality -- whatever may be the way I don't mind.

Thanks & wishing for the best.

Sunil.

Hello Sunil,

You could install SCM with Oracle & install the liveCache server, then follow the post installation procedure from the liveCache installation guide "Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on UNIX - NW 7.0 SR2 " to be able to communicate with liveCache from the SCM system.

-> First of all please review the documents "Architecture overview", "Installation and Upgrade overview " & "liveCache overview" at

service.sap.com/scm -> SAP SCM Technology

-> Please review "Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0" at

service.sap.com/liveCache -> Release Information -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 - SAP liveCache technology 7.6

Check SAP note 916648 for Linux IA64 system requirements.

Check SAP note 916650 for Linux PPC system requirements

Check SAP note 916649 for Linux X64 system requirements.

Check SAP note 1011172 for LCA preconditions for SLES 10.

-> "Installation Guide - SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0" is available at

service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP SCM

-> SAP SCM Server -> Using SAP SCM 5.0 Server ->

"Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on UNIX - NW 7.0 SR2 "

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Livecache is based on MaxDB - basically it´s a MaxDB database with "object extensions" (forgive that term).

You usually have two systems: An SCM instance (running on whatever combination is supported for SCM 5.0) and a livecache.

And there IS a Livecache for Linux, it´s available as 64bit only software, no more as 32bit.

Where did you read, that a livecache is not supported on Linux?
