Error upgrading NW04s from SP09 to SP13 - deploying sap.com/CORE-TOOLS

I'm running into some difficulties upgrading my local installation of NW04s from SP9 to SP13.

Specifically, the JSPM keeps giving me an error when trying to deploy software component sap.com/CORE-TOOLS. The message the JSPM gives me is "The J2EE Engine is in SAFE mode". This strikes me as odd, as the J2ee Engine is supposed to be in safe mode during the upgrade process. I verified in the config tool that safe mode is enabled.

I was able to successfully update all other components to SP13 by skipping the core-tools component in the JSPM (ie. applying the other components 1 at a time -- which I don't recommend unless you have a good book to keep you company ).

The deployment appears to abort when it encounters the 'tc/template_config_tool'/'sap.com'/'SAP' component (see logs below). On the JSPM deployed components tab, I expected the current version of this component to be Release 7.00, SP Level 9.0 (ie. consistent with the other development components in the core tools software component. <b>However, the release for this component displays as 0 and the SP Level is 0.0.</b>

Attached is the log file from JSPM. Any ideas of what might be going on here?

Can you try this?

Can you try manually undepolying the component referenced below via the SDM?

Once you are able to successfully undeploy it the JSPM won't keep trying to undeploy it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am also unable to deploy it manually through SDM. I receive a very similar error to the original error in SDM:

Hi!

You could try to re-deploy the supposedly current version with SDM. This might update your versioning and allow the rest to work as expected.

Yes, do you see this component in the SDM repository?

It may be that the sdmrepository.sdc file got corrupted somehow.
