We're running SAP 6.2 ( 4.7 ) on our SAP server. We are also using on our frontend SAPGUI 6.2. As a developer I'd like to take advantage of the "newer" ABAP editor in version 6.4 / 7.X. I've been told that one could use the newer versions of the SAPGUI with the older backend instance ( 6.2 ).
Is that true? If so, and one uses the newer SE80 editor is there compatibility issues after development, for those users still using SAPGUI 6.2, after I developed using the 6.4 / 7.X SAPGUI? ( I think there shouldn't be, but just want to make sure ).
Thanks
JB
Hello Jesse,
SAP GUI is always downwards compatible.
If that new Editor you are talking about is actually shipped with the GUI and is not a functionality provided by the AS ABAP it should work in theory.

Hi again Jesse,
one of our ABAP gurus just walked by and I asked him.
He uses that new Editor - which is indeed delivered with the GUI - on all Backend Versions he is working on (that includes 6.20).
