Hi

The scenario is like this.

client is using Rail cars for storing material and dispatching the material.

wants to know the filled, unfilled as well as dispatched.

What is the best way to implement this other than Rail car management

This is very similar to returnable packing scenario.

Returnable transport packaging (RTP) is a multi-trip packaging medium (for example, pallets or containers) in which goods can be transported more than once between vendors and customers.

Example:

Bisleri water bottels- 20 liters is used for water.Once consumed then get ( unfilled) you can refilled ,dispatched to client

Rail Car is returnable packing material.The materisl is stored and then dispatched and then unfilled .then again filled and process is repeated ......

One option:

Create Rail Cars as material with batch management active. Each rail car is a batch. The filled, unfilled, etc statuses can be monitored via classification.

Hi

This process is not like that. There are FG, Railcars, Customer railcars.

FG will be filled in Railcars either to own or customer.

On despatch we should know rail car status etc.,

on return we should know the status of rail cars, (empty,filled, dispatched etc.,)
