Any one can tell me what exactly means of "create purchase requisition in opening period" in MRP run screen (MD01,MD02 &MD03).
What is the exact meaning of "opening period"?
How system calculates opening period?
Pl. clarify.
Once the system is in productive operation, you normally run the period closing program once a month at the beginning of a new period. This program sets the new period, making it possible to perform goods movements with reference to the new period.
check t-code OMSY, here u can see the periods in which u can create a document for ur Company Code. if the document you are creating is not in that specified opening period then it shows this error.
u can Close period by t-code MMPV
u can Open or initialize period by t-code MMPI
one more way to change the periods is:
1)go to OX18 and delete the plants assigned to ur Company code and save, then
2)go to OMSY and change the periods and save, then
3)go to OX18 and assign the plants, you have deleted, to ur Co. Code and save
hope it clarifies ur doubt

Hi,
The opening period for the planned order represents the number of workdays that are subtracted from the order start date in order to determine the order opening date. This period serves as a time float, which is available for the MRP controller when converting a planned order into a purchase requisition.
You define the opening period for the planned order in Customizing for MRP in the IMG activity Define floats (scheduling margin key) and assign it to the material in the Scheduling margin key field (MRP 2 view) in the material master.
Hope this will clear your doubt.
