1) what is the importance of serial number with equipment no & serial number without equipment number ?

2) what is this equipment number & how is it different from serial number ?

Hi,

Like you have set of similar equipments and you want to assign single Equipment CODE to them then you have to use serial number. For example : 11000234 is the equipment code, serial number are like 1,2,3,4.

imagine you concern is manfacturing a motor of same kw ,same rpm , then for diffientianting purpose is the serial number,hence serail no will be assigned to the equipment number for better tracking as well as maintenance purpose

equipment number is the physical representation an objet say in your company there is a pump this will be mentioned as equipment number ,and if the pump has 3 spare casing then each one will be differentiated by the serial number,it depends on the client requirement
