ESS and MSS Configuration and Customization

Hi All,

Can any one can please provide a complete document that contains both configuration and customization of ESS and MSS business package.

How much time it take for configuration and customization.

And regarding Configuration depends upon lot of constraints but usually it will take about an hour or two minimum.

Well Customozation also depends upon what functionalites you need in ESS/MSS.

FYI:

while deploying ESS/MSS packages you need to know ur ECC version as well as portal version,because these packages are compatable for diffrent versions.

For more information log onto SDN, on the left side panel you have Content Portfolio, go to that and check for the diffrent versions.

According to my understanding ,once we upload the business packages in to portal,we will see all the iviews related to ESS and MSS .

and inorder for them to work we will configure SAP JCO connectors to HR systems

Is this what we do for the confiuration part.

<u>Customisation:</u>

How do we get the par files for all the iviews in to NWDS for customization?

Yes that is what Configuration and Customization means.

Apart from that we use the term "Deploy" for Business Pakages i.e. Deploying the Business Pagakes & and Configuring(as mentioned configure JCO's) them and if needed or required we go for Customazation.

or log on to Portal

Go to System Administration>Support>Portal Runtime-->Browse Deployment and find the appropriate par file and download it and upload to ur NWDS

I have one more q?

once we import all the business packages through SDM ,we will be seeing all the par files (Webdynpro components) for all the iviews in SAP WAS.

IS this correct.

Hello Ajay,

Once you deploy the Business Packages you will see all the ear files for all the ESS/MSS applications on the WAS using the Visual Amdin. Tool.
