XI Future

Hello evryone,

Im learning XI but im confused regarding the future which holds for SAP XI...Can u please enlighten me the prospects XI has, is it in Good demand and will it remain to be so. Can u also let me know..What is SAP Netweaver? why du we need Netweaver? Is BI also a good competitor?

Hi Amit

Pre-Requisites for XI is Basic Java and ABAP knowledge even if you dont know these, you will eventually get knowledge once you begin.

SAP XI is in great demand and according to my perception it will remain in demand.

Netweaver is a technology developed by sap.

Netweaver Purpose:

SAP NetWeaver provides an open integration and application platform and permits the integration of the Enterprise Services Architecture. You can unify business processes across technological boundaries, integrate applications for your employees as needed, and access and edit simple information easily and in a structured manner.

SAP NetWeaver is the basis for all SAP solutions on a given hardware. The business applications and the SAP xApps use the key areas of SAP NetWeaver

As far as BI is concerned, no such pre requisite is there.But you say you are aware with Data Warehousing concepts that will be helpful in BI.

as you are beginner i suggest you first go through all TBIT (bible of SAP XI )

Hi Amit Raj,

XI is a middleware technology. It is a part of SAP Netweaver. Other main modules include MDM, EP.

Hi Amit,

Are you learning SAP XI from some institute ?

If so leave that institute. Cause if they have started teaching XI without telling you what NetWeaver is it is not worth to study there.

XI has a greate future. If it is right for you or not .. depends on the options you have with you..

Hello Amit,

1) You didnt mention your background ?Education and are you working ...

2) In EAI market SAP XI is also one of the Integration tool ..In market its still maturing..So demand will grow in coming future ..But normally for one project ..we need more ABAPers than XI .So its better to concetrate on both XI and ABAP.

If your background is java .you have additional edge as you already working on java

Most of the companies taking java guys for Netweaver stack.

3)Next year Oracle launching its fusion ...If it is a failure then in my view SAP Netweaver will be be the Leader for atleast for couple of decades.

4)Netweaver comprises of

a)People Integration (Portals)

b)Process Integration (XI or PI)

c)Inforamtion Integration(BI)

5)Dont compare BI with XI .But if you consider job market in my view there are more BI jobs than XI...But if you consider compensation then XI is leading ..

Hi Amit,

No need to worry to learn sap XI , till the death of SAP there is no death for XI . Now the market for sap xi if BOOMING. prerequisites to learn sap xi is minimum knowledge of ABAP or JAVA would be fine .

U can go ahead with out any confusion.
