I need to know whethher i need to use UD connect or DB connect for my scenerio.
As of the note323151: Several DB connections with Native SQL
As of Release 4.0B, you have the option of opening other DB connections in
addition to the default connection from within an ABAP program, and you can
access these databases using Native SQL commands. These additional
connections can be set up either
o to the standard R/3 database or
o to another database of the same DB manufacturer or
o to a database of another DB manufacturer.
I am new to Legacy system extraction and now I need to extract the data from the following
Forthshift , Visubility and Oracle : I need to know which of the above Legacy systems
are supported by SAP R/3 (default connection). Does any one worked on these Legacy systems before?
Finally ,Can any one tell me what is sql native and open commands and how it relates to SAP ?
If Iam a new Developer with no knowledge of Legacy system extractions (but having BI knowledge and Extraction from R/3)
is it possible to work out this ? Also please let me know what are the main things I need to ask (s/w or h/w / BASIs things)
Please send me the reply if any one undestands all this..I will assign full points
Regards
Also do I need to ask them about the size and of the historical data of the legacy systems that I need to bring? Do I need to ask them about which data (Sales , Purchasing, FI...) I nedd to extact ?
Please advice what else I cam asl...regards
