Viswanathan,

All good questions...

Before, we start talking about SAP Business One's future, the first question to ask what is your career objective. Just because you want to work on something technical should not direct you towards a software product / platform.

You first need to identify your short term and long term goals and then decide.

SAP has invested a lot on the SME market space in the recent years and has great focus on this market segment. The Tier one segment is saturated as most companies already have some kind of system in place. The SME market space is the future for SAP.

Especially in India there is tremendous boost in Business One sales in the recent year and a grear promise for the future. Please read the following two articles which emphasize the same...

<a href="http://www.ciol.com/ciol-techportal/Content/ERP/News/2006/2060619499.asp">http://www.ciol.com/ciol-techportal/Content/ERP/News/2006/2060619499.asp</a>

There are two areas in Business One, technical and functional.

To be a successful Business One technical consultant you need good understanding of Databases and SQL.

For the Functional side you need to understand Business Process and have Industry experience.

You could start a Career as a B1 Consultant as a fresher on the technical side.

Certification is not mandatory, but going through the curriculam and getting certified would greatly help.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best wishes
