Hi,

you can assign the cost center through infotype 27 or through Expert mode in OM

In HR we dont create a costcenter we just assign.

Hi Samuel,

becoz, u mentioned NEW to SAP HR, i thght it may help u.

Cost centers are maintained as part of SAP FICO MODULE.

Unless you are a cross functional consultant, in real working scenario, you will not have authorisations to these transactions, as Fico consultants create them and is a strategic business process.

thats precisely the reson why in Employee master(PA30) IT0001 (ORG ASSNMT)

the cost center field is greyed out and is not available for direct maintainance.

ofcourse in a IDES system, or any other sand box where you have super user access for learning you can always create them and its go to be aware where and how they are created.
