Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.

I'm new to SAP in SQL server. How do I backup the transaction log database? Do I need to shutdown the application?

Step1: Go to SQL management studio

Step2: Select the Database

Step3: Right click on the database ->Tasks->Backup

Step4: Choose Transation in the Backup Type

Step5: Select the path and press ok

This completes the backup
